First New Energy Electric Patrol Boat in the Upper Yangtze River Enters Service
Chongqing, February 5 (China News Network) (Zhang Xu) — The “Hai Xun 12518” was officially commissioned on February 5 at the Yuzui Maritime Law Enforcement Brigade of the Chongqing Chaotianmen Maritime Office. According to the Chongqing Maritime Safety Administration, the vessel is the first new-energy electric patrol boat in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, and its commissioning sets a new benchmark for the green transformation of waterborne transportation along the main stem of the Yangtze River.
It is reported that the “Hai Xun 12518” is among China’s first batch of government vessels retrofitted for electric propulsion. With a length of 30 meters, its power configuration highlights green and efficient advantages. It is equipped with 120 sets of CATL lithium iron phosphate battery packs, with a total battery capacity of 1,959 kilowatt-hours and a propulsion power of 800 kilowatts.
Operating at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour in calm waters, the vessel can sail continuously for more than 7 hours and requires only 5 hours to fully recharge, meeting official operational needs such as patrols, law enforcement, and emergency rescue in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.
The “Hai Xun 12518” integrates two core intelligent functions. Among them, the electronic lookout system—deployed for the first time on the main stem of the Yangtze River—enables all-weather dynamic monitoring of the waterway, effectively addressing the challenge of tracking vessel movements during inclement weather. The intelligent berthing assistance system, leveraging BeiDou positioning and visual recognition technology, significantly enhances the precision and safety of vessel berthing and unberthing operations, establishing a robust safety barrier for navigation in complex waterways.
Additionally, the vessel’s intelligent engine room system monitors equipment operating status in real time and performs intelligent control. By connecting to the Yangtze River Maritime Administration’s smart management platform via an intelligent integration platform, it establishes an efficient ship-to-shore command and coordination model, which will significantly enhance the efficiency of collaborative patrols, law enforcement, and emergency rescue operations.
The commissioning of the “Hai Xun 12518” will further strengthen safety supervision capabilities in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, inject new momentum into ecological and environmental protection, and provide robust waterborne transportation support for the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
